It’s been a while since I last posted, 15 months to be exact. Where have I been? Why did I stop posting? These are probably questions no one is asking, but I’ll answer them anyway!
Professional Growth
An unexpected change has been in my professional world. Over the past year I was promoted, and with that came a shift in focus. Recruitment remains my core, but my role has expanded to include something I’ve been quietly passionate about for some time: Employer Branding.
This is a new challenge, one that stretches me creatively and strategically in different ways than sourcing and recruiting ever did. My very first event is coming up in October, and I’m equal parts nervous and excited. It’s been a crash course in project management, messaging, and storytelling, plus skills that sit alongside recruitment but feel like a whole new discipline.
Much of my work this past year has been wrapped up in projects that are still under the radar. I can’t share the details (yet!), but I can say this: they’ve been some of the most engaging and rewarding initiatives I’ve had the privilege of working on. Sometimes the best work happens behind the curtain, and I’ve been fortunate to be part of those moments.
Life Outside of Work
But while work has certainly kept me busy, the biggest transformation has actually been at home. The past 15 months have been a complete 180 for me personally. I made a conscious decision to take my health seriously, both mentally and physically and it has been life-changing.
I started small: walking more, carving out time for self-care, being more mindful about how I spend my days. Over time, that grew into daily gym sessions, consistent 10,000 steps, and a regular routine of massages and recovery. Alongside that, I picked up reading again and worked my way through a stack of books that expanded my perspective and gave me a sense of balance I didn’t know I was missing.
We often hear people say that exercise and wellbeing change your outlook and it’s easy to scroll past and dismiss that as cliché. But the truth is, actually putting those words into practice and seeing the results firsthand has been exhilarating. I feel like a new person and that shift has spilled over into everything else I do.
Looking Ahead
So here I am, 15 months later, finally writing again. I stopped posting because life was moving quickly, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to share. But with the changes behind me and so much ahead, it feels like the right time to return.
I’ll be honest I don’t know if I’ll post regularly, or if this is just a one-off update. What I do know is that the last year and a bit has given me new perspective: that growth doesn’t only happen in the office, but in the quiet decisions we make every day to take care of ourselves, push into new spaces, and embrace change.
